The TP-Link JetStream TL-SG3428XMP is a PoE-capable variant of the SG3428X, providing 802.3at PoE+ on all 24 Gigabit copper ports with a total PoE budget of 384W. This substantial power budget allows simultaneous powering of high-wattage devices including 802.11ax access points, IP cameras with heaters, and PoE-enabled IP phones without requiring external power injectors or midspans. Four 10G SFP+ uplinks ensure sufficient bandwidth for aggregating wireless and wired traffic upstream.

The switch supports intelligent PoE power management features including per-port power priority (Critical/High/Low), power scheduling to disable PoE on a time-of-day basis (useful for reducing energy consumption outside business hours), and PoE device detection with automatic power recovery if a powered device becomes unresponsive. The Omada controller provides a unified view of PoE consumption across all managed switches, enabling capacity planning for AP and device rollouts.

Beyond PoE, the TL-SG3428XMP retains the full L2+ managed feature set: OSPF routing, comprehensive ACLs, 802.1X authentication, RADIUS/TACACS+ integration, and VLAN segmentation. The switch is commonly deployed as the primary access-layer infrastructure in Omada-managed networks where APs, IP cameras, and VoIP endpoints all require inline power from a single switch.
