TP-Link JetStream TL-SG6428X 24-Port Gigabit L3 Managed Switch with 4× 10G SFP+

The TP-Link JetStream TL-SG6428X is a 1U rack-mount Layer 3 fully managed switch providing 24 Gigabit copper ports and four 10G SFP+ uplinks. Unlike the L2+ SG3428X, the SG6428X supports dynamic routing protocols including OSPFv2/v3, RIPv1/v2, and static routing for IPv4 and IPv6, enabling it to function as a distribution or aggregation layer device capable of inter-VLAN routing at hardware speed without relying on a separate router.

The SG6428X implements hardware-based IP routing with a dedicated route table supporting thousands of IPv4 and IPv6 entries, enabling low-latency Layer 3 forwarding between VLANs at line rate. The switch supports Policy-Based Routing (PBR), allowing traffic steering decisions based on source/destination IP, protocol, or other L3/L4 criteria—critical for multi-tenant environments or networks with differentiated WAN path requirements. VRRP provides gateway redundancy for high-availability deployments.

The switch is Omada SDN-compatible, allowing centralized management alongside other Omada devices while also supporting traditional CLI-based configuration via SSH and console port. It supports DHCP server and DHCP relay functions, eliminating the need for separate DHCP infrastructure in smaller deployments. Multicast routing via PIM-SM/PIM-DM and IGMP is supported, making the SG6428X suitable for enterprise video distribution or IPTV infrastructure.
