Built around lithium-ion battery technology, the unit achieves a substantially smaller footprint and lighter weight compared to equivalent VRLA-based predecessors, making it purpose-built for space-constrained edge deployments, high-density rack environments, and remote infrastructure sites where physical space is a critical constraint. The double-conversion online topology ensures a consistent, clean sine-wave output with zero transfer time to battery, protecting sensitive IT loads from the full spectrum of power anomalies including surges, sags, brownouts, over-voltage, and complete mains failure.

The lithium-ion battery chemistry extends the expected service life of the battery pack and reduces the frequency of battery replacement cycles compared to traditional valve-regulated lead-acid designs. The unit includes an integrated battery management system that monitors cell health and state of charge in real time, surfacing actionable data through APC's EcoStruxure IT ecosystem. Network management is supported via the embedded SmartConnect cloud portal as well as compatibility with the APC Network Management Card (NMC3) ecosystem, enabling remote monitoring, event notification, and graceful server shutdown coordination across distributed sites without requiring on-site personnel.
