DDR5 RDIMM architecture introduces SPD Hub (SPD5118) for enhanced module management and monitoring, replacing the legacy SMBus-connected SPD used in DDR4. Each module includes a RCD (Register Clock Driver) with 1:2 clock fan-out, and the PMIC provides regulated power delivery to the DRAM components. These architecture improvements collectively enable more reliable operation at higher speeds and with greater numbers of DIMMs per channel compared to DDR4.
