Built on DDR5 architecture with an on-module multiplexer buffer (MDB) and registering clock driver (RCD), the MRDIMM format enables operation at 8800 MT/s, substantially exceeding the throughput ceiling of conventional RDIMMs and LRDIMMs at comparable densities. The module targets Intel platforms supporting the MRDIMM specification and is engineered to satisfy the bandwidth requirements of large language model inference and training, high-performance computing clusters, and in-memory analytics engines.

With 128GB capacity per module, the 5MTE allows high-core-count server sockets to be populated with large, contiguous memory pools without sacrificing per-channel bandwidth. The MRDIMM architecture achieves its speed advantage by using the on-module MDB to re-drive signals at higher frequencies than the host memory controller alone could sustain, effectively decoupling the demanding electrical environment of the DIMM slot from the high-frequency signaling requirements of the DDR5 bus.
