Operating at an 850 nm wavelength, it leverages a VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) transmitter to deliver reliable, low-latency optical connectivity across structured cabling plants commonly found in enterprise data centers and campus core deployments. The module conforms to the IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR standard and is engineered to Extreme Networks interoperability specifications for use with compatible Extreme switches and routers.

The transceiver supports link distances of up to 300 meters over OM3 multimode fiber and up to 400 meters over OM4 multimode fiber, making it well suited for inter-rack, top-of-rack-to-aggregation, and data center interconnect runs within a building.
