The Arista OSFP-800G-2FR4 is an 800G OSFP form-factor optical transceiver designed for high-density, high-bandwidth interconnects in next-generation data center switching fabrics. It implements the 800GBASE-FR4 dual-port architecture, combining two independent 400G FR4 optical channels within a single OSFP housing. Each 400G channel uses four wavelengths in the 1310 nm O-band via coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM4), with each lane operating at 100G PAM4 signaling, yielding an aggregate 800G bidirectional capacity over duplex single-mode fiber (SMF).
The module conforms to the OSFP MSA mechanical and electrical specification and interfaces with host switch ASICs via dual 400G electrical interfaces, each comprising eight 50G PAM4 electrical lanes. This architecture is purpose-built to connect directly to Arista 7800R3 and next-generation AI spine and leaf switches, enabling single-transceiver port utilization at 800G without breakout cabling overhead. The dual-port 2xFR4 design supports reaches up to 2 km over OS2 single-mode fiber, making it well suited for campus-scale and inter-row data center connectivity as well as tightly coupled AI/ML compute cluster interconnects.
