The Vertiv Avocent ACS8016 is a 16-port serial console server engineered for resilient out-of-band management of data center and remote site infrastructure. Built on the Avocent ACS800 platform, it provides secure, always-on console access to servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and other serial-enabled devices independent of the primary network. The unit supports dual Ethernet uplinks for network redundancy and integrates an internal cellular modem slot, enabling a tertiary out-of-band path via 4G LTE when both wired connections are unavailable. Dual AC or DC power supply options further reinforce availability for mission-critical deployments.

Access control and security are addressed through support for local, RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP, and Kerberos authentication. All console sessions are protected via SSHv2 and HTTPS/TLS, and role-based access control allows granular permission assignment per port and per user group. The ACS8016 runs the Avocent embedded Linux environment and exposes a web-based GUI, CLI, and RESTful API surface for integration with automation toolchains and IT service management platforms. SNMP v1/v2c/v3 and syslog support enable incorporation into existing monitoring frameworks.
