The Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Special Edition (UDM-SE) is an all-in-one enterprise network appliance that consolidates a security gateway, UniFi Network controller, Layer 3 switch, and UniFi Protect network video recorder into a single 1U rackmount unit. Built around a quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 processor, the UDM-SE delivers advanced threat management, deep packet inspection, and IDS/IPS capabilities while simultaneously running the full UniFi software stack — eliminating the need for a separate cloud key or controller host. The front panel integrates a 1.3-inch LCD for at-a-glance system diagnostics, and the unit ships with a rack-mount kit for straightforward data centre or wiring-closet installation.

Connectivity on the UDM-SE is purpose-built for high-density enterprise edge deployments. The unit provides one 10G SFP+ WAN port, one 2.5G RJ45 WAN port, eight 802.3at PoE+ RJ45 LAN ports (capable of powering UniFi APs and cameras directly), one 10G SFP+ LAN uplink port, and a dedicated 1G RJ45 port for out-of-band management. An integrated 128 GB SSD provides onboard storage for UniFi Protect video retention without requiring an external NVR. Total PoE budget of 61 W supports a practical mix of access points and IP cameras on a single appliance.

The UDM-SE targets small-to-medium enterprise campuses, multi-tenant office environments, hospitality networks, and distributed retail branches where consolidated management, physical security integration, and multi-gigabit throughput must coexist in a cost-efficient footprint.
