SonicWall Network Security Virtual (NSv 470)

The SonicWall Network Security Virtual (NSv 470) is a full-featured virtual firewall appliance designed for deployment in private cloud environments, software-defined data centers, and multi-tenant infrastructure segments. Running SonicOS 7.x, it delivers the same stateful deep-packet inspection, application intelligence, and threat prevention capabilities found in SonicWall's physical Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) line, packaged as a hypervisor-agnostic virtual machine. The NSv 470 is purpose-built to enforce consistent security policy between virtual workloads, east-west traffic lanes, and north-south perimeter connections without requiring dedicated hardware at each segment boundary.

The NSv 470 leverages SonicWall's patented Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) engine to inspect encrypted and unencrypted traffic streams at line rate while maintaining low latency for latency-sensitive workloads. It integrates natively with SonicWall's Capture Advanced Threat Protection (Capture ATP) cloud sandbox service for real-time analysis of suspicious files and zero-day threats, and supports TLS 1.3 decryption and inspection. The platform also provides application-layer controls, granular user-identity-based policy enforcement via LDAP and Active Directory integration, and full VPN gateway functionality including site-to-site IPsec and SSL VPN.

Management is unified through SonicWall's Network Security Manager (NSM) or the on-box SonicOS 7.x interface, enabling centralized policy administration, audit logging, and compliance reporting across hybrid environments.
