The NVIDIA L4 is a low-profile, single-slot PCIe Gen4 GPU built on the Ada Lovelace architecture, delivering 242 TOPS of INT8 inference performance within a 72W thermal design power envelope. Featuring 24GB of GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit bus, the L4 is purpose-engineered for high-density enterprise server deployments where space, power, and thermal constraints are primary considerations. Its single-slot, half-height form factor enables multiple GPUs to be installed per server node, substantially increasing per-rack inference throughput without requiring server redesigns.

The L4 integrates dedicated hardware acceleration across all major AI and media workloads simultaneously. A fourth-generation Tensor Core engine accelerates transformer-based models and computer vision inference, while a dedicated NVENC/NVDEC media engine supports multi-stream hardware-accelerated video transcoding in formats including H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 encode.
