The NetApp ASA r2 A1K is a purpose-built All-SAN Array designed to deliver high-performance, low-latency block storage for demanding enterprise and AI-driven workloads. Built on the second-generation ASA r2 platform, the A1K combines a scale-out NVMe-based architecture with NetApp's ONTAP operating system to deliver consistent sub-millisecond latency and high availability without compromise. The system supports end-to-end NVMe connectivity — including NVMe/FC, NVMe/TCP, and NVMe/RoCE — enabling maximum throughput for modern storage fabrics, while legacy FC and iSCSI protocols are also supported to protect existing infrastructure investments.

The ASA r2 A1K is engineered with an active-active symmetric controller architecture, eliminating single points of failure and ensuring that every path to every LUN is fully active and load-balanced. This architecture, combined with NetApp's ONTAP storage efficiency capabilities including inline deduplication, compression, and compaction, allows organisations to maximise usable capacity while sustaining the IOPS and bandwidth required by enterprise databases, virtualisation platforms, and AI/ML inference workloads. Autonomous Ransomware Protection (ARP) and immutable Snapshot copies are built directly into ONTAP, providing enterprise-grade data security without additional licensing tiers on the ASA r2 platform.
