The Seagate Exos E 2U12 is a 2U rack-mount enclosure housing twelve 3.5-inch Seagate Exos X24 SATA hard drives, each with 24TB of capacity, delivering up to 288TB of raw storage in a compact dual-unit rack footprint. The enclosure is engineered for high-density, scalable storage deployments and integrates Seagate's ADAPT (Autonomous Drive Regeneration Technology) erasure coding for accelerated rebuild times and improved data resilience compared to traditional RAID. Dual expander modules provide redundant SAS connectivity, enabling seamless integration with external RAID controllers or JBOD expansion in enterprise SAN and DAS architectures.

Each populated Exos X24 drive (model ST24000NM009H) operates on the SATA 6Gb/s interface and is built around Seagate's tenth-generation helium-sealed platform, featuring perpendicular magnetic recording with shingled zones on select tracks. The drives sustain a maximum sustained transfer rate of up to 285MB/s and are rated for 550TB per year workload, making them suited to always-on, high-throughput environments. PowerChoice and PowerBalance technologies allow administrators to tune power consumption dynamically, supporting data center energy efficiency targets without sacrificing sequential read/write performance.
