The HPE 100Gb QSFP28 SR4 100m Transceiver (845966-B21) is a short-reach parallel multimode optical module designed to deliver 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity across HPE Synergy and ProLiant server fabrics. Built on a QSFP28 form factor, the module aggregates four 25Gbps NRZ lanes over an OM4 multimode fiber ribbon, reaching up to 100 metres and enabling dense, high-bandwidth interconnects within data centre rows and between adjacent racks. The SR4 architecture employs an MPO-12 connector interface and utilises 850 nm VCSEL transmitters paired with PIN photodetector receivers, conforming to the IEEE 802.3bm 100GBASE-SR4 standard.
Engineered for HPE's Composable Infrastructure ecosystem, this transceiver is validated for use in HPE Synergy Frame Link Modules, Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 Modules, and compatible HPE ProLiant network adapters and top-of-rack switches. Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) capability allows real-time visibility into transmit power, receive power, temperature, supply voltage, and bias current through the host management interface, supporting proactive fault isolation without physical intervention. The module operates over a standard 3.3 V supply and adheres to the QSFP28 MSA electrical and mechanical specifications.
This transceiver addresses the bandwidth demands of east-west server-to-server traffic characteristic of scale-out compute clusters, software-defined storage fabrics, and high-performance virtualisation environments.
