HPE Aruba 25G SFP28 SR Transceiver

The HPE Aruba 25G SFP28 SR Transceiver (JL484A) is a short-reach optical module engineered for 25 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity across Aruba CX switching platforms deployed in enterprise data centers and campus core environments. Built to the IEEE 802.3by 25GBASE-SR standard, the module uses 850 nm VCSEL technology over OM4 multimode fiber, supporting link distances of up to 100 meters on OM4 and up to 70 meters on OM3, making it well suited for structured cabling within modern facilities.

The transceiver conforms to the SFP28 form factor, which is mechanically and electrically compatible with SFP+ ports while doubling the per-lane data rate to 25 Gbps. This design allows network architects to migrate to 25G server and spine connectivity without chassis replacement where SFP28-capable line cards or fixed switches are in place. The module operates over a duplex LC interface and integrates digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM), enabling real-time visibility into optical power levels, temperature, voltage, and bias current through standard management interfaces.

As a natively supported HPE Aruba optic, JL484A is validated for use with the Aruba CX switch portfolio—including the 8400 series modular core and CX 6300/6400 series—ensuring full interoperability and supportability under HPE's network infrastructure agreements. Its low-power profile and industry-standard 25G NRZ signaling align with the requirements of high-density top-of-rack and collapsed core architectures where scalable, cost-effective server-to-switch bandwidth is essential.
