Fortinet FortiSwitch 248E-FPOE Managed Layer 2/3 PoE Switch

The FortiSwitch 248E-FPOE is the 24-port sibling to the 448E-FPOE, sharing the same architecture and Security Fabric integration capabilities in a configuration sized for smaller wiring closets and branch offices. It provides 24 GbE RJ45 PoE+ ports with a 370 W total PoE budget and four 10 GbE SFP+ uplink ports, offering a balanced port density and PoE capacity for mid-size deployments.

Like all E-series FortiSwitch models, the 248E-FPOE operates in FortiLink mode when connected to a FortiGate, inheriting firewall-based VLAN, ACL, and 802.1X NAC policies automatically. This unified management approach reduces switch management overhead significantly in FortiGate-centric campuses, as administrators manage wired access policy entirely from FortiGate or FortiManager without needing separate switch management consoles.

The switch supports standard enterprise L2 features including MSTP, LAG with LACP, IGMP snooping for multicast optimization, and per-port PoE power scheduling. It is frequently deployed in pairs or groups within larger FortiLink stacks of up to 24 switches per FortiGate, providing scalable wired access infrastructure aligned with the FortiSwitch product roadmap.
