The Extreme Networks 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP28 Transceiver (part number 10503) is a high-density, short-reach optical module engineered for 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications within structured data center environments. Built on a parallel-optics architecture, the module uses four independent 25G lanes transmitted and received over multimode fiber via an MPO/MTP-12 connector interface, aggregating to a full 100 Gbps bidirectional throughput. It complies with the IEEE 802.3bm 100GBASE-SR4 standard and the QSFP28 Multi-Source Agreement (MSA), ensuring broad interoperability across compliant switching and routing platforms.

Operating over OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber, the 10503 supports link distances of up to 70 meters on OM3 and up to 100 meters on OM4, making it well suited for intra-row, end-of-row, and cross-row cabling within modern spine-and-leaf fabrics. The module operates in the 850 nm VCSEL wavelength band and consumes 3.5 W or less, a power envelope that enables high-port-density deployments without exceeding chassis thermal budgets. Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) is supported, providing real-time visibility into TX power, RX power, temperature, supply voltage, and bias current through standard I2C management interfaces.

As a native Extreme Networks accessory, the 10503 is validated and qualified for use with Extreme switching platforms including the SLX 9640, SLX 9540, and compatible ExtremeSwitching 100G-capable systems, ensuring full feature support and seamless integration with Extreme Fabric Automation and network management tooling. The QSFP28 form factor allows direct installation into QSFP28 ports without adapters, supporting hot-plug insertion and removal to simplify maintenance in always-on data center operations.
