The Cisco Catalyst 9136I (C9136I-A) is a tri-band Wi-Fi 6E access point built around an 8x8 MU-MIMO radio architecture designed for the most demanding enterprise and high-density venue deployments. Supporting the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands simultaneously, it leverages the newly available 6 GHz spectrum to deliver additional clean, uncongested airtime for latency-sensitive and bandwidth-intensive applications. The 6 GHz radio operates across a 1,200 MHz spectrum block, enabling 160 MHz-wide channels with minimal co-channel interference, fundamentally increasing aggregate network capacity compared to dual-band predecessors.

The access point implements OFDMA and BSS Coloring from the IEEE 802.11ax standard across all three bands, improving spectral efficiency and reducing inter-BSS interference in environments where hundreds of concurrent clients operate in close proximity. The 9136I supports 8 spatial streams on both the 5 GHz and 6 GHz radios, enabling theoretical aggregate data rates well above prior-generation platforms.
