The Aten CN9600 is a single-port DVI KVM-over-IP switch that delivers full BIOS-level remote access to a single server or workstation over a standard IP network. Built around Aten's Virtual Media and remote power management architecture, the CN9600 provides administrators with complete out-of-band control — including keyboard, video, and mouse input along with virtual media mounting — without requiring a local presence at the target machine. The unit connects directly to a server's DVI video output and USB or PS/2 ports, making it suitable for deployment alongside rack-mounted servers, embedded systems, or broadcast appliances where discrete, low-profile remote access is required.

Video is captured and transmitted at resolutions up to 1920×1200, with the CN9600 employing an adaptive bandwidth algorithm to balance image fidelity against available network throughput. Access is provided through a browser-based Java client or the standalone Windows AP client, and the device supports simultaneous access by up to 32 user accounts with role-based permission controls. SSL encryption (AES 128/256-bit) and two-factor authentication support help satisfy enterprise and government security baselines without reliance on third-party software agents on the managed host.

The CN9600 is well-suited to data centre environments where maintaining a persistent, hardware-level management path is critical — particularly for headless servers, blade infrastructure edge nodes, or systems running operating systems that lack remote desktop capabilities.
