The Aten KN1108VA is a single-user, 8-port KVM over IP switch that enables full remote access to connected servers and serial devices over standard TCP/IP networks. Built on Aten's mature KVM-over-IP architecture, the unit consolidates BIOS-level keyboard, video, and mouse control with out-of-band serial console management into a single 1U rackmount appliance. A dedicated Power Over the Net (PON) module interface allows administrators to remotely power cycle, power on, or shut down connected equipment without requiring physical presence in the data center.

The KN1108VA supports connections to Cat 5e/6 cabling via Aten KVM Adapter Cables (KA7xxx series), allowing the switch itself to be located centrally while servers up to 50 meters away remain accessible. Video is transmitted and rendered at resolutions up to 1920×1200, and the integrated Virtual Media function allows ISO images, USB drives, or CD/DVD media on the administrator's workstation to be mounted directly to a target server — a critical capability for OS deployment, firmware updates, and disaster recovery tasks. Both a Java-based browser client and a Windows-native AP client are supported, and up to 16 user accounts can be configured with granular per-port access permissions.

Targeted at small-to-medium enterprise data centers and server rooms requiring reliable lights-out management, the KN1108VA also integrates with Aten's CC2000 centralized management software for multi-site KVM fleet oversight.
