The TP-Link Omada EAP660 HD is engineered specifically for high-density wireless environments where hundreds of clients must associate simultaneously in a confined physical space. Unlike standard 4×4 enterprise APs, the EAP660 HD features 8×8 MU-MIMO on the 5 GHz radio, enabling up to eight simultaneous spatial streams and significantly increasing aggregate capacity in dense deployments. The 5 GHz radio delivers up to 2402 Mbps and the 2.4 GHz radio contributes up to 1148 Mbps, for a combined 3550 Mbps.

The AP's high-density design philosophy extends beyond raw radio specs. Transmit beamforming, granular airtime fairness controls, and flexible OFDMA scheduling are all tunable via the Omada controller, allowing RF engineers to optimize per-client throughput even when 300+ devices are associated. Omada's centralized channel planning and power control algorithms complement the hardware by minimizing co-channel interference across AP clusters.

The EAP660 HD includes a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet uplink port and a secondary 1 Gigabit port for daisy-chain or management separation, preventing the wired backhaul from becoming a bottleneck in multi-gigabit wireless scenarios. The unit supports 802.3at PoE+ power input and includes provisions for optional power injectors when higher power configurations are needed.
