The dedicated third radio operates continuously as a full-time RF monitor for rogue AP detection, wireless intrusion prevention (WIPS), and spectrum analysis without impacting client throughput.

The SonicWave 681 supports the full 802.11ax feature set including OFDMA, MU-MIMO (4x4 on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands), BSS Coloring, and Target Wake Time (TWT) for improved efficiency with IoT and mobile endpoints. The access point delivers aggregate wireless throughput suited to demanding workloads such as unified communications, high-density video collaboration, and large-scale IoT onboarding. WPA3 encryption and enhanced open (OWE) are supported natively, providing modern cryptographic protection for both corporate and guest SSID profiles.
