Seagate Exos AP 5U84 Application Platform Storage Server

The Seagate Exos AP 5U84 is a converged storage-server platform designed to support software-defined storage (SDS) and object storage deployments at scale. Built on a 5U form factor, the system integrates high-density storage capacity with embedded compute resources, enabling direct attachment of storage nodes within unified rack infrastructure. This architecture eliminates the need for separate storage appliances, reducing operational complexity and data path latency for distributed storage clusters.

The platform supports mixed workload environments including object storage backends, distributed databases, and analytics clusters that demand both compute co-location and direct storage access. The 5U84 model accommodates 84 large-form-factor drive bays within a single chassis, providing flexible capacity scaling through combination of HDD and SSD media types. Native support for industry-standard storage software and cluster frameworks enables integration into existing heterogeneous infrastructure environments.

The system is engineered for hyperscale and enterprise data center deployment, with emphasis on operational efficiency, serviceability, and long-term availability in mission-critical storage clusters. Launch availability began in Q2 2024.
