Raritan EMX2-111 Asset Management & Environmental Gateway

The Raritan EMX2-111 is a compact, rack-mountable environmental and asset management gateway designed to extend data center infrastructure management (DCIM) capabilities to distributed or space-constrained rack environments. Built on Raritan's EMX platform, the unit aggregates data from attached environmental sensors—covering temperature, humidity, airflow, differential air pressure, water detection, and door contact states—and delivers consolidated readings to upstream DCIM or building management systems via standard IP networking. Its architecture supports Raritan's DX2 series intelligent sensor packages, enabling a modular approach to environmental coverage without requiring per-rack compute infrastructure.

The EMX2-111 provides asset management functionality through support for Raritan's asset sensor strips, which use RFID-based asset tags to track server and device presence at the rack-unit level in real time. This capability feeds directly into DCIM platforms such as Raritan's own dcTrack, allowing operations teams to maintain accurate, automated inventory without manual audits. The gateway communicates over a standard RJ-45 Ethernet connection and supports SNMP v1/v2c/v3, Modbus TCP, RESTful API, and HTTPS-based web UI access, making it straightforward to integrate with heterogeneous enterprise monitoring stacks.

Deployed extensively in hot/cold-aisle containment projects and phased DCIM rollouts, the EMX2-111 is particularly well suited to edge deployments, remote data halls, and colocation cages where a full-featured PDU is not required but reliable environmental telemetry and asset tracking are mandatory. Its 0U or 1U mounting flexibility and low power draw allow it to be installed unobtrusively within existing rack layouts, and its onboard alerting engine supports threshold-based and sensor-state alarms with email, SNMP trap, and syslog notification paths.
