It combines the same high-performance Marvell Armada 88F7040 quad-core ARMv8 1.4 GHz architecture with a ruggedized IP66-rated weatherproof enclosure, making it equally capable in open-air industrial sites, telecommunications tower bases, transportation hubs, and remote monitoring installations. The unit delivers gigabit throughput across eight Ethernet ports with full PoE-out capability on all RJ45 interfaces (802.3bt/at/af), allowing it to directly power downstream surveillance cameras, wireless access points, and IoT sensors without additional injectors or switches.

At the uplink tier, the RB5009UPr+S+OUT incorporates a 10G SFP+ cage providing high-bandwidth fiber or DAC connectivity back to the core network, enabling the unit to serve as a primary edge aggregation point rather than merely a distribution device. The router runs RouterOS v7, MikroTik's mature and feature-rich network operating system, delivering advanced routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), firewall, NAT, VPN (IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN, L2TP), traffic shaping, and CAPsMAN wireless management from a single unified CLI and Winbox interface.
