The Fortinet FortiSwitch 424F PoE (FS-424F-POE) is a high-performance Layer 2/Layer 3 access switch purpose-built for enterprise edge deployments requiring substantial Power over Ethernet capacity. The switch delivers 24 x GE RJ45 PoE+ ports alongside 4 x 10GE SFP+ uplink ports, providing the bandwidth and power headroom needed to simultaneously drive high-density Wi-Fi 7 access points, IP cameras, VoIP handsets, and IoT endpoint arrays. With a total PoE budget of 421W, the FS-424F-POE accommodates demanding powered devices without compromising port availability across the access layer.

Architecturally, the FortiSwitch 424F PoE integrates natively with Fortinet's Security Fabric through FortiLink, enabling zero-touch provisioning, centralised policy enforcement, and unified visibility directly from a FortiGate firewall — eliminating the need for a separate switching management platform. In FortiLink mode, switch ports inherit FortiGate NAC policies, VLAN assignments, and dynamic segmentation rules, effectively extending network access control to every connected endpoint. The switch also supports standalone management via CLI, GUI, or SNMP for environments where FortiGate integration is not yet in place.

The FS-424F-POE is engineered for the access tier of campus, branch, and mid-size enterprise networks where converged wired and wireless infrastructure must scale alongside IoT proliferation. Its non-blocking switching fabric ensures wire-rate forwarding across all ports, while hardware-based QoS queuing prioritises latency-sensitive traffic such as voice and video.
