Dell EMC PowerStore 500T

The Dell EMC PowerStore 500T is the entry point of the PowerStore T-model appliance line, designed to give mid-market and departmental IT environments access to the same NVMe-native architecture, autonomous intelligence, and unified file/block capabilities found in larger PowerStore models. Despite its smaller footprint, it shares the identical software stack—including the APEX Intelligence ML engine, always-on inline data reduction, and native vVols support—with larger models, enabling organizations to standardize on a single management framework across all tiers of storage.

The 500T supports NVMe SSD media in a 2U chassis with an active-active dual-controller design, delivering consistent sub-millisecond latency for block workloads and NFS/SMB file services from a single appliance. Its data reduction algorithms consistently achieve 4:1 or greater effective ratios on database and virtual machine workloads, making the entry-level appliance stretch significantly in terms of usable capacity.

The 500T is commonly deployed as branch office or remote office primary storage, as a departmental file server replacement, or as the first storage appliance in a greenfield enterprise that anticipates scaling to larger PowerStore models. Its integration with CloudIQ provides proactive health scoring and capacity forecasting without requiring on-premises management infrastructure.
